History of Adventure Cycling
Adventure Cycling - 4361 S. Parker Rd., Aurora, CO 80015
Adventure Cycling is located in Aurora, Colorado, on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, adjacent to the Cherry Creek State Park. Frank Barvik Senior and his family immigrated to the United States in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. Prior to arriving in the United States, Frank Barvik Senior raced as a professional road cyclist in Hungary. Upon arrival, Frank Barvik Senior opened Denver’s first bike shop dedicated to professional level bike sales and service. This laid the foundation for Adventure Cycling which opened on April 1st, 1984 as Aurora’s first professional bicycle shop specializing in road bike sales by Susanne, Pete, and Peter Schones along with Susanne's brother John Barvik. Since 1984 Adventure Cycling has remained dedicated to offering professional bike sales and outstanding customer service.
Current storeowner Erik Swanson continues the Adventure Cycling legacy today.
Erik is dedicated to the sport of cycle racing and can be seen at local Colorado races weekly racing for ColoBikeLaw/ AdventureCycling, an Adventure Cycling Sponsored Road Race Team.
Erik started racing in the 80's in Colorado as a junior and has been passionate ever since. The Adventure Cycling staff is knowledgeable in all types of bicycle sales and service. Adventure Cycling carries a wide range of bikes to accommodate any level of cyclist.
